Datawind shock bundle in Indian tablet PC market place

According to Cyber Media Research’s (CMR) India Quarterly Android Tablet PC Current market Review, 3Q (July-September) 2013, December 2013, about 1,204,410 Tablets were being offered in the quarter by as several as forty three domestic and global vendors. On the other hand, only thirteen sellers delivered in major volumes of additional than twenty,000 units in the course of the interval. The overall advancement in shipments of  Tablets while in the India market place registered a 9.0% year-on-year (3Q CY 2013 over 3Q CY 2012) progress, but a extra modest 4.7% quarter-on-quarter (3Q CY 2013 over 2Q CY 2013) increase due to limited offerings from vendors battling BIS certification guidelines.
Dwelling on individual vendor performances, Tarun Pathak, Analyst, CMR Telecoms Practice said, "While Samsung leads, Lenovo has figured for the first time amongst the Top 3 India Tablet PC vendors, while Datawind continues to maintain its position in this exclusive club.
"However, we saw quite a few vendors exiting the Tablet category altogether, or launching their offerings within the Enterprise Tablets space. Key reasons for this are low profitability from the entry-level Tablets current market vis-à-vis a far more promising future for growth of the Enterprise Tablets industry," he said.
"The current market is expected to pick up towards the end of the year, once Tablet PC sellers are through with their BIS certifications. This is also expected to lead to some market place consolidation. Only serious players with a long term vision are likely to remain committed to this category of devices. As far as technological trends are concerned, the 3G Tablets current market will continue to grow and Android will remain the dominant OS, though it is expected to lose some share to the Windows and iOS platforms, once Windows 8.1 OS-based Tablet devices, the Apple iPad Air and Apple iPad Mini 2 launch in India through the October-December 2013 quarter," Pathak concluded.
